Well, it happened. California came through and we have smoke. It looked like fog yesterday until I stepped outside and caught a whiff. Raunchy stuff. Reminded me of the air in the Philippines. One nice thing about the smoke is that it has made some clouds. :P Among the first I've seen this summer. So that helps keep the sun from blowing its dragon breath down my neck. Not very much though, actually. Chipping ditches out of solid rock under the watchful solar eye, be it ever so thinly veiled, is evocative of doing jumping jacks in a sauna. Really makes the pores pour. :-) Today was good though, because we went down to the river to cool off after work. It was intense. How such a blazing hot place can have such a freezing river defies reason. Perhaps California just enjoys the reputation of being a place of extremes. The cold fairly knocked the wind out of me. Makes you feel like a million dollars when you get out though. :-)
